The BAP-47 is a light combat walker developed in the Interstellar Union of Revolutionary States, produced and in service since 147. In heavy use with the United Front Ground Force, the BAP-47 remains in production and has been exported to foreign clients as well. A one-man bipedal light walker, the BAP-47 is designed to be air-transportable to support aerospaceborne forces. Robust, requiring little maintenance and highly modular, numerous variants have been created to serve a wide variety of roles.
One of the most numerous and succuessful combat walker designs ever produced with possibly even millions produced since 147, the BAP-47 is also the basis of the BAP-83 light combat walker.
Description
The BAP-47 is a light bipedal combat walker equipped with two modular 'shoulder' hardpoints, capable of mounting a variety of weapons and equipment. Weighing 8.3 tonnes, the BAP-47 is capable of being transported by light aerospace dropships, enabling it to keep up with air-mobile operations and be air-dropped as well. The bipedal design enables the BAP-47 to traverse almost any type of terrain and surmount obstacles that tracked or wheeled vehicles may be unable to cross. At a low height of 4.43 metres, the BAP-47 is small for a walker, and can only fit one operator in a cramped cockpit.
Designed for ease of use and easy repair, most components of the BAP-47 are entirely interchangeable between individual units.
