It is a subsidiary of the Chiotanne Group.

Originally known as the Kuromizu Information Agency, the Company has roots stretching back to the 19th century as a information broker and private investigation firm, somewhat historically notorious for it's role in the suppression of labour organizers. After declaring bankruptcy in 1946, the agency was swiftly acquired by the growing Chiotanne conglomerate, which saw potential in Kuromizu as a useful addition to it's growing defence empire. Rebranded CSNK in 1951, the company swiftly moved from a focus on detective work to military contracts, providing intelligence and special combat training to the armed services of countries such as Yamatai, West Kuiju, the Song Republic, the Republic of Imoshima and Jyugoku.

Major operations

Common contracts undertaken by CSNK include:

  • Private convoy escorts, private security personnel outsourcing
  • Shipping of sensitive material
  • Military/security training and consultancy (counter-insurgency, special operations, intelligence, cybersecurity)
  • Rearline logistical roles for armed forces (medical personnel, material transport, military police duties.

As of 2020, CSNK contractors are reportedly deployed in as many as 30 countries around the world. The company maintains a cordial relationship with the Chiseian Armed Forces, and is one of numerous 'designated civilian auxiliary partners'.

Structure

TDU

The CSNK Tactical Demonstration Unit is a standing paramilitary division of the company, numbering some 4,000 employees and employing a variety of mission equipment such as helicopters and hovercraft. Founded in 1997, the Unit peforms functions both within and outside the Company, such as evacuating personnel from dangerous regions, securing 'high value assets' for clients, providing security for both company and client installations, personnel security for VIPs, and other 'direct' roles. The Unit is also used in training exercises, serving as instructors or OPFOR for client agencies.

70% of the unit's personnel are former Chiseian and Yamataian military personnel, with a further 10% being ex-military from other sources, chiefly Amphia and Osova.

Incidents & Controversies

Arms trafficking allegations

CSNK has on numerous occasions been accused of illegal arms trafficking, sometimes in defiance of Chiseian and international military sanctions and occasionally in collusion with organized crime. A 1987 report by the Jōhōgumi, partially declassified in 2016, as well as archive leaks from the Chiseian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017, suggest that CSNK contractors may have been present in Dai Hoa and Sahil during the Hoa-Sahil War of 1988-1992, providing training and covert shipments of war material to both belligerents, without the knowledge of either. Subsequently in 2018, the Dai Hoa government banned the company from operating in the country for unspecified reasons, though the ban was overturned a year later thanks to pressure from Chiseian diplomats.

In 2012, the Chiseian Royal Navy intercepted two Duynish-flagged civilian vessels carrying up to ¤145,000 in various small arms towards Jyugoku. A subsequent investigation indicated that the shipping company that had leased the vessels and hired the crew was in fact a shell company with 'significant' ties to the Chiotanne Group and CSNK in particular, but as there was little hard evidence there were no further prosecutions.

Masuka

CSNK is suspected to be one of the major training and equipment suppliers of the Masukan Elephant Corps, the personal paramilitary force of President Kriangsak Chatichai.

Sahil

Jyugoku

CSNK operatives have been present in Jyugoku since the 1980s, and played a key role in training the nations armed forces. Like other international PMCs, CSNK continues to maintain a strong presence in Jyugoku. The company has been criticised by Chiseian lawmakers for undermining national policy in the region, particularly due to reports of CSNK mercenaries and military advisors being found to have ties to figures in the unrecognised Akihi and Keiva cliques.
