IDOL24 Group (アイドル24グループ), sometimes shortened to 24 Group, refers to the sister groups of the Yamataian idol girl group Nemoto24. Based on the same concept of "idols you can meet", it currently consists of 5 sister groups in locations across Yamatai and several sister groups in major Escaric cities overseas from Chisei to Dai Hoa. The Yamatai-based sister groups not only release their own singles, but also perform on some of the Nemoto24 singles and events. The sister groups outside of Yamatai release local-language versions of the Nemoto24 singles, and also occasionally release their own singles.
Since 2012, new groups have been created through the ESCARDOL24 reality television competition. The first group to be created in such a way was Okayama's Mamura24.
Yamataian Groups
Nemoto24
Nemoto24 was formed in 2008 and was the first IDOL24 Group to be formed. The group is named after the Nemoto district in Niihama, where the group's theatre is located. Nemoto24's producer, Natsumoto Yasuda, formed Nemoto24 with the concept of having daily concerts in their own theatre as compared to only performing occasional concerts and television appearances. This "idols you can meet" concept includes teams which can rotate performances and perform simultaneously at several events and 'handshake' events, where fans can meet group members. Initially, there were two teams of 12 members each, thus the number 24 in the name of the group, though currently there are 107 members in five teams of varying numbers.
Nemoto24 are the second-most successful Yamataian idol group, and are continuously in close competition with Fukumusume for top idol group in Yamatai.
