The Prime Minister of Meriad (Informal abbreviation PM) is the supreme elected executive office and head of government of the Meriad. The Prime Minister and Royal Cabinet (consisting of all the most senior directors, who are government department heads) are collectively accountable for their policies and actions to the Monarch, to the Hall of Jarls, to their political party, and ultimately to the electorate. The current Prime Minister, Jans Nordvich, was appointed by King Sketli on June 16th, 2012. Below is a list of every prime minister of Meriad, living and dead.

Hallstein Tastad 1763 - 1775 Hall of Jarls None Tastad, as the first Prime Minister, played a huge role in defining what the country's highest elected office would be like over the next several hundred years. Under Tastad's guidance, the office of Prime Minister remained an uncorrupt position, appointed by parliamentary voting and not becoming a hereditary office like many other positions in the new government. Tastad was also the only Prime Minister to ever be appointed by the Hall of Jarls and not the reigning monarch, as Tastad himself was responsible for granting the monarch more authority in that matter.

File:Meriad PM Stiansen.jpg Gloria Stiansen 1963 - 1966 Example Stiansen was the first woman in Meriadni history to hold the office of Prime Minister, setting a precedent that women were not to be considered inferior to men in the realm of politics. Stiansen's status as the first woman to hold the office of Prime Minister is unfortunately her most notable accomplishment - although a brilliant campaigner, she was a particularly unremarkable leader. Stiansen is the oldest currently living Prime Minister, at the age of 83.
