Tenshō era

From Ordic Encyclopedia

Tenshō (天勝) was a Chiseian era name (年号, nengō, lit. "year name") after Jōgan and before Meiwa, lasting from 1937 to 1944, or 343 to 350 in the Chiseian calendar. The era began on July 7 1937, the same day that Chisei invaded the New Territories and declared war on the Greater Yamataian Empire, beginning the Second Escar-Varunan War. It was the third era of the reign of Grand Queen Kaoruko. Tenshō translates to "Heavenly Victory".

The era is considered to be roughly synonymous with the war itself, which is often known as Dai Tenshō Sensō (大天勝戦争, lit. 'Great Tenshō War') in Chisei, though in fact the era ended after the agreement Oyashima Armistice on July 10, 1944, which only ended the war against Yamatai itself, while the Kingdom of Kuiju would continue holding out against Chisei and the Escaric allies until 1945.
